Panasonic LX3 Maui gallery posted

As promised, I've posted a gallery of photos from beautiful Maui that I took with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3. Look for our standard gallery as well as the final review soon!

Canon EOS Rebel XS reviewed

I've posted my review of the Canon EOS Rebel XS, also known as the EOS-1000D. Hit the link to see how this entry-level D-SLR performed in our tests.

DCRP double feature: Olympus E-520 review, Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 preview posted

I've got a double feature for you today! First is the long-awaited and endlessly delayed final review of the Olympus E-520. Click the link to see how this entry-level D-SLR performed in our tests.

Official photos of prototype Olympus Micro FourThirds camera

I managed to get ahold of the official photos of the Olympus Micro FourThirds prototype that I mentioned yesterday. I like the size, though I'm not a fan of the faux wood or the lack of an electronic viewfinder. Click the link below to see more pictures of this camera-to-be.

Nikon D90 review updated with new night photos

I've updated the Nikon D90 review with the updated night shots that I promised last week. These look a lot better, so enjoy!

Fuji rolls out new SuperCCD EXR sensor

Fujifilm has announced an all-new sensor for digital cameras: the SuperCCD EXR. In a nutshell, this sensor aims to combine the high resolution of the SuperCCD HR sensor with the expanded dynamic range of the SuperCCD SR. This is accomplished by 1) rearranging the photo sites on the sensor and 2) taking a double exposure, one at high sensitivity, the other at low sensitivity (with all photosites the same size, unlike on the SuperCCD SR). They haven't announced when this sensor will make it into their cameras, but once I know, you'll know.

Pentax announces K2000 digital SLR, and more

Pentax announced a new entry-level digital SLR today, known as the K2000 (and the K-m outside of the USA) -- plus two lenses and a ring flash. In an unusual move, Pentax is including an external flash with the K2000 kit -- even though it has a built-in flash. Anyhow, here are the details on the camera and the new toys that go with it. Hopefully I'll have more photos of these later in the day.

Olympus shows off FourThirds, Micro FourThirds prototypes

Olympus is showing off two prototype cameras at the big Photokina show in Germany, and they've let out a few details today. If I can find some more details on these two, I'll update the news item.

Nikon introduces F1.4, 50 mm lens

Nikon has introduced a new, fast 50 mm lens. The new F1.4G, 50 mm AF-S lens features a Silent Wave Motor (for fast, quiet focusing), plus new coatings to reduce flare and chromatic aberration. And, since this lens has the built-in focus motor, this is the first 50 mm lens with autofocus support when attached to a D40/D40x or D60. The new lens is scheduled to ship in December for $439.
